Emily Jennings

London-based Soprano

London-based Soprano Emily Jennings is a song specialist and passionate recitalist with a particular fondness for folk music and storytelling. Described as ‘an extremely engaging singer with not only a marvellous instrument but a real gift for story-telling’ (Association of English Singers and Speakers), Emily is a Britten Pears Young Artist (Elizabeth Harewood Memorial Award Holder), a SongEasel Young Artist and 2025 fellows for the Cincinnati Song Initiative’s Fellowship of the Song.

Emily is a graduate of the Royal College of Music (Master of Vocal Performance with Distinction). She was awarded 1st Prize in the Brooks Van Der Pump English Song Competition during her studies.

Emily was  awarded 2nd Prize in the 2024 Association of English Singers and Speakers’ English Song Competition as well as 2nd Prize in the 2024 London Choral Sinfonia’s Leach Award for Singing Competition. She was also selected alongside the late Emily Hoh (collaborative pianist) to perform in the live rounds of the 2024 Wigmore Hall International Song Competition

Emily loves nothing more than to curate and perform recitals with collaborative musicians and she relishes the opportunity to give lesser known works a platform. She has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Britten Studio at Snape Maltings and the Cadogan Hall amongst many of the UK’s most exciting recital platforms. Emily has a long love of folk music and frequently performs at many of the UK’s contemporary arts festivals including Glastonbury. Emily performs as part of voice/guitar duo Madrugada with guitarist Cassie Mathews.

Whilst song is Emily’s first love, she is also enjoying a varied career as a soloist and ensemble singer on the concert platform and has frequently performs with some of the industry’s most celebrated ensembles including the Orchestra and Choir of the Age of Enlightenment, the Utopia Orchestra and Choir, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Britten Sinfonia and Voices, and the London Handel Orchestra and Singers.

Upcoming  highlights include an evening of Benjamin Britten’s Folksong arrangements with pianist Archie Bonham and guitarist Cassie Mathews at the 1901 Arts Club as well as performing in the semi-finals of the 2026 Rebecca Clarke Song Competition  with pianist Roeloff Temmingh.
